SNP: Scotland could keep free movement

A “compromise” arrangement should be considered for Scotland so that it can retain membership of the single market when the UK leaves the EU, the SNP’s Europe spokesman has said.

Stephen Gethins told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that staying in the single market would be “the least worst option” for Scotland.

He added that also retaining freedom of movement – a key requirement of membership the single market – would be “good for the economy” and would not cause difficulties at the border with England.
